Irish Pension Managed Funds Spring Forward in April
Irish pension managed funds made further gains during April, returning 2.7% on average over the month. New Ireland topped the table over the month, with a return of 3.4%, while Setanta Asset Management lagged the peer group with a return of 1.7% in April.
This sprightly performance comes on the heels of a strong first quarter. As a result, Irish pension managed funds have gained 13.5% on average over the first four months of 2019. Zurich Life gained the most ground over the year to date, with a return of 14.9%, while Setanta Asset Management gained the least, with a return of 11.4%. Over the past twelve months, Irish pension managed funds have delivered 8.1% on average. Returns for the past year ranged from 11.6% (Davy Asset Management) to 4.0% (Merrion Investment Managers).
The average managed fund return has been a respectable 8.1% per annum over the past three years. The five-year average return is an even healthier 8.7% per annum. Irish group pension managed fund returns over the past ten years have been a very satisfying 10.3% per annum on average.
