Following on from the damp squid that was October, Irish pension managed funds enjoyed a return to brighter territory in November, with an average gain of 2.6% over the month. Zurich Life turned in the best performance this month with a gain of 3.2%, while Merrion Investment Managers delivered the worst, with a return of 1.8%.
Managed pension funds have gained a very heartwarming 19.6% on average so far this year. Returns for the year to date ranged from 22.5% (Zurich Life) to 15.5% (Setanta Asset Management). Over the past twelve months the average fund return was 12.4%. Davy Asset Management top the table over the past year with a return of 14.8%, while Setanta Asset Management produced the lowest return at 9.4%.
The average managed fund return has been a respectable 7.5% per annum over the past three years. The five-year average return is healthy, at 7.4% per annum. Irish group pension managed fund returns over the past ten years have been a strong 9.5% per annum on average.
