After a strong end to 2020, Irish pension managed funds slowed down somewhat during January 2021, declining 0.1% on average over the month. Friends First topped the table over the first month of the year, with a return of 0.7%, while Zurich Life lagged the peer group over the month, with a return of -1.7%.
Over the past twelve months, Irish pension managed funds have delivered a 5.8% return on average. Returns for the past year ranged from 18.6% (Merrion Investment Managers) to -2.1% (Setanta Asset Management).
The average managed fund return has been 6.3% per annum over the past three years. The five-year average return is a robust 7.5% per annum. Irish group pension managed fund returns over the past ten years have been a healthy 8.5% per annum on average.
