Small is the new big

We’re a tiny Irish company founded in 2005 — in fact, there's just two of us. However, we work with clients big and small. We're flexible, creative and completely independent.

Experienced

We have been helping clients from all areas of the pensions world since 2005.

Bespoke

We tailor our services to meet each of our clients' own specific needs.

Independent

We are completely independent and always work in our clients' best interests.

Our team

Rubicon was founded by Fiona Daly and Steven Harford. Find out what makes us tick.

Fiona Daly FIA FSAI

Founder & Managing Director

Fiona is an actuary with nearly three decades of experience. She founded Rubicon Investment Consulting with Steven Harford in 2005 and is the public face of Rubicon, where she cultivates client relationships and conducts Rubicon's day-to-day business.

Fiona started her career with Irish Pensions Trust. After a brief spell in Friends Provident, she then spent 8 years at Buck Consultants, before leaving to pursue a life-long ambition of setting up her own business. Pensions should be neither boring nor intimidating, and it is Fiona's personal mission to change how they are perceived.

If she ever gets bored of pensions, Fiona's back-up plan is to become a proof-reader of urban fantasy novels. But for now, she is kept happily, if busily, occupied with running Rubicon and running after her three small children.

Steven Harford B.Sc. Ph.D.

Founder & Director

Steven started his career in computing way back in 1989 when he bought his first computer, an Atari ST. He founded Rubicon Investment Consulting with Fiona Daly in 2005 and is now Rubicon's resident computer geek.

Before Rubicon, Steven attended Dublin City University (DCU), where he received a B.Sc. (first class honours) in Computer Applications. After working as a Software Engineer at IONA Technologies, Steven went back to academia at DCU, where he was awarded a Ph.D. in Computing for his thesis entitled Content-Based Retrieval of Melodies using Artificial Neural Networks.

Away from Rubicon, Steven's interests lie in concurrent, parallel, and distributed computing. In particular, Artificial Neural Networks and all things Internet-related. To his friends' annoyance, he is a persistent free and open-source software evangelist. He is also an aspiring athlete, a serial hobbyist and enjoys spending time with his family.
